Creating a space between stimulus and response in conversation is the number one effective way to create an executive presence in your leadership.

You may be asked a question in a meeting and you may not know the answer.

It is often best to take your time and pause.

Take a moment to reflect.

A good way to do this is to take a drink of water.

In that pause, you will create space for yourself.

Not answering with the first thought that comes to your mind will allow you to engage the pre-frontal cortex part of your brain instead of the primal part of your brain that can be reactionary to stimulus.

This not only allows you to process the question but also will allow your team to gain confidence in your answer.

Would love to hear if you try this, how effective it was for you,
